Mother’s Breastfeeding Circle

Led by a Certified Lactation Educator. We encourage moms to talk openly about their breastfeeding experiences with other breastfeeding moms. Moms can get assistance with breastfeeding problems, weigh their baby and have their feeding questions answered. Nursing chairs and pillows are available. Moms will also have the opportunity to participate in our BEST (Breastfeeding Education and Support Tribe) Beads program, in which they build their own personalized teething necklace as they progress through the breastfeeding journey. Every month, moms are encouraged to reflect upon their breastfeeding experience and choose a bead that represents their success. Leave this group feeling supported and more confident! Healthy older siblings are always welcome.

Bereavement Support Groups

Butterfly Program

The Perinatal Institute has developed a program to guide in the care of our patients who have experienced the loss of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or newborn death.

It is recognized that the death of a baby is a unique loss, and as such, the research-based program reflects valuable input from those families who have suffered the loss of a baby. In order to provide the best care for our bereaved families, all Perinatal Institute employees receive specialized bereavement training.

The emphasis of our care is to create precious memories. Many families find comfort in seeing, touching, and holding their babies. Beautiful clothes, blankets, impressions of the infant’s feet, and many other mementos are provided. We also give a memory box to hold these irreplaceable treasures.

The Perinatal Institute provides loving, compassionate care to families experiencing the loss of a baby. In doing so, the lives of many precious babies are validated and honored.

Hopeful Journey

Pregnancy after loss can be very challenging emotionally. What would normally be a time of joy and anticipation may be a time that is complicated by fear or anxiety. It may feel confusing and difficult to be grieving for the baby you've lost while at the same time, hoping to bond with the baby you are holding so close within. Because of this, Loma Linda University Children's Hospital has a support group called "Hopeful Journey, Walking the Path of Loss and Hope" for mothers who are pregnant following the loss of a baby.  This is a place where you can talk about your fears, anxieties and concerns, as well as express your hopes, dreams and excitement about being pregnant.
